ABOUT THE MOVIE

After Olivier Rousteing, the director follows Nadia Nadim, a former Afghan refugee turned professional footballer and pillar of the Paris-Saint-Germain football club, whose father was murdered by the Taliban in Kabul in 2000.

Director

Anissa Bonnefont is the director of Wonder Boy, a fascinating portrait of Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain. For more than a year, she followed him in his hectic everyday life as he embarked on a journey to find his biological parents, whom he never knew.

The documentary was an instant critical hit and met political acclaim. Private screenings were organized at the Elysée Palace in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron, and at the National Assembly for the French First Lady. In 2020, Wonder Boy was nominated for a César for Best Documentary Film and selected at the Tribeca Film Festival.

ACT

In August 2021, Talibans took back power in Afghanistan. Since then, thousands of Afghans have again fled the country and often find themselves parked in camps around the world, unable to return home without incurring immense risks. They have to to start over in foreign nations and cultures. The documentary and the subjects it addresses, such as exile and its implications, the condition of women in Afghanistan, resilience and integration of refugees, are essential matters today.  Our mission with the impact campaign around the film is to give the viewers the tools to act on concrete manners.  Take part in the fight by joining actions initiated throughout the territory to help refugees.
